The "Good Neighbours Award" is reserved for individuals or groups within the riding of Sudbury, from ALL fields of endeavour and backgrounds, whose excellence exemplifies the selflessness, tenacity, and commitment of our community.
Here are a few examples:
- An individual or group who has demonstrated dedication to improving our community
- An individual or group who has gone out of their way to help community members in need
- An individual or group whose acts of kindness, generosity, community volunteerism, and community pride makes a positive impact on Sudbury
Past recipients were recognized for:
- Shopping for friends and/or neighbours
- Driving people back and forth to the hospital and/or their appointments
- Organizing a variety of fundraisers to help support community members and organizations in need
- Taking time to visit elders who live alone
- Creating a rink on the back lake for the kids in the neighbourhood and quietly heading out early each morning to make sure it’s cleared off before anyone notices
You cannot nominate:
- Yourself
- A political figure, or any elected federal, provincial, or municipal representative
- Someone outside the Sudbury riding. This includes: Chelmsford, Val Caron, Val Therese, Garson, Falconbridge, Lively, portions of Algonquin and Long Lake Rd, etc... as these are located in the Nickel Belt riding
