First elected in 2018, MPP Jamie West is a dedicated advocate for the people of Sudbury, representing them as a member of the New Democrats in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. He also serves as the Shadow Minister for Labour, as well as the Shadow Minister for Energy and Mines.
Jamie is proud of his blue-collar, working-class roots. A graduate of Laurentian University and Cambrian College, West's background includes working in the fields of mental health, construction, mining, and workplace safety.
Jamie is a fierce advocate for human rights, worker rights, and for the critical role that local trades and small businesses play in growing and developing Northern Ontario.
Having faced poverty at a young age, West’s purpose is always to give back to others in need. He continues to push for government and social services that lift people up and to ensure everyone has an equal chance to succeed. West's advocacy reflects his genuine belief in a more fair and prosperous future for Ontarians.
