To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
WHEREAS the Premier is clearly aware of the dangers of the 2-lane portion of Highway 69, stating: “Have you ever [gone] from Sudbury down to the city? That two-lane is like white-knuckle driving down there. If the transport is off by two inches you’re done”;
WHEREAS the Premier has promised to complete the 4-landing of highway 69 in every election since 2018;
WHEREAS despite multiple promises, the Premier has not tendered a single KM of highway 69 since assuming provincial government in 2018;
WHEREAS the Premier and his government have not allocated any funds for HWY 69 in any provincial budget since 2018;
WHEREAS communities and families continue to be devastated by preventable accidents and deaths on the remaining untendered 68km of Hwy 69.
THEREFORE we, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to follow through on its commitments to Ontarians, save lives on highway 69 by completing the four-laning of the remaining 68 km of highway 69.
