WHEREAS the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) provides vital services to workers across Ontario;
WHEREAS these workers are essential to helping injured workers navigate an already complex and often frustrating system;
WHEREAS the reality in Northern Ontario is fundamentality different from realities in Southern Ontario;
WHEREAS Injured workers in Northern Ontario deserve to be served by those who understand the challenges specific to our region, and
WHEREAS the WSIB has announced the permanent removal of local representation across nine locations in Ontario — a decision that will result in more than 700 job losses across the province, including hundreds in the North.
WE THE UNDERSIGNED PETITION THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO to immediately direct WSIB management to reopen regional offices and restore a full complement of regional staff to serve workers in the regions they live in.
