Petitions

I welcome your ideas, concerns and questions about issues facing our community.

Please find below petitions on some of the current issues I am working on:

Join me in calling on the provincial government to create an emergency action plan for a full, safe return to school September 2020. Sign the Petition Here

Parents and teachers have had to juggle so much over the last three months – helping keep up remote learning and working at home. I understand that many of you are worried about what’s going to happen at the start of the school year.

If the provincial government doesn’t get into gear and put Ontario on a path to a full, healthy and safe return to classes for students in September, some parents may have to drop out of the workforce.

My official opposition colleagues and I have put forward an emergency action plan that would help get kids safely back to class five days a week in the fall and work for parents and teachers.

Sign on to call on Doug Ford to develop a program to help tenants and landlords get through the COVID-19 pandemic with an 80% rent subsidy up to $2,500, please find the petition here

Allowing rent to go unpaid for months hurts both landlords and tenants, who won’t be able to afford four months of back-rent at the end of the pandemic. Join us in calling on the provincial government to provide tenants with a rent subsidy of 80 per cent of a household’s rent, up to $2,500 a month, for each of the next four months, for anyone qualifying for the federal emergency benefit.

Our seniors have shouldered the heaviest burden throughout this pandemic.

Problems in Long-Term Care started well before the crisis hit. It’s past time to do better for our seniors, both now in response to the crisis, and in the future to prevent this from every happening again. Add your name to get seniors the support they deserve now, and for an inquiry into Ontario’s Long-Term Care system.

Our frontline workers, whether in long-term care facilities or hospital kitchens, have done extraordinary work since the beginning of this state of emergency. They have put their health and safety at risk for the well-being of our communities. It’s wrong that it took so long for this small wage top up to arrive, and far too many workers are excluded by the current plan.

Every senior in care, every adult living with a disability, and every home care worker is a person who matters, and they deserve better. Sign the Petition Here.

The government has done too little, far too late to protect seniors in care and adults with disabilities in group living situations. It’s beyond time for the government to step up with a plan to take direct management of homes where residents and their home care workers aren’t protected enough.
