Jamie West is the Provincial Member of Parliament for the riding of Sudbury.
Born and raised in Sudbury, Jamie has devoted himself to working to address the issues affecting families in the community, including healthcare, poverty, public safety, and opposing the privatization of public assets like the selling off of Hydro One.
Jamie is a well-known advocate for workers’ rights and fairness. He was identified as one of Canada’s 250 emerging leaders for the 2017 Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference.
Prior to the 2018 election, he was the President of the Sudbury & District Labour Council and the Worker Safety Rep at the Copper Cliff Smelter. As a Sessional Professor, Jamie also taught 1st and 2nd year Health and Safety at Laurentian University’s School of Northern Development.
Jamie believes in giving back through volunteerism. He has been a United Way volunteer since 2002 and has sat on several boards and advisory committees in the Greater Sudbury area.
He is a graduate of Cambrian College and Laurentian University.
